There will be no fireworks in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township or the Town of Espanola this Canada Day.
Espanola CAO Cynthia Townsend says due to the extension of the state of emergency put in place by the province to the end of June, council made the decision to cancel the fireworks at their meeting this week.
She says council also reviewed other programs and has also cancelled the Clear Lake Beach program and the August movie night.
Sables-Spanish Rivers Township fire department has also chosen to cancel its display to be in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.
