Métis Nation in Ontario votes today

Electronic voting will be put to use today for the election of the leadership for the Métis Nation of
Ontario.
The phone lines will be open and online voting will take place for all Métis Nation of Ontario eligible
citizens who are over the age of 16.
President Margaret Froh is seeking a second term in office in hopes of continuing the work
she started in her last term.
Froh signed a self-government agreement with the government of Canada last year that recognizes the
inherent Métis right to self-government and lays the framework for the recognition of the organization
as an Indigenous public government.
She is up against Jennifer Parkinson and Tobias Clarke, and there are also candidates in the running for
the executive including vice-president, chair and secretary treasurer as well as regional councilor
positions in nine districts throughout the province.
The polls close this evening at 6:00.
