Health Sciences North to start resuming clinical care services next week

Health Sciences North in Sudbury is getting ready to resume scheduled surgeries that were postponed due to COVID-19.
Public Health Sudbury & Districts medical officer of health Dr. Penny Sutcliffe gave the green light to the hospital after ensuring the criteria had been met to resume elective surgeries and non-urgent procedures.
Hospital CEO Dominic Giroux says some 4,400 non-urgent emergency surgeries were postponed over the last couple of months.
He says those services will be gradually introduced June 1st with about 200 surgical cases planned per week.
Giroux explains those surgeries will focus on procedures only requiring a 48-hour stay in the facility.
If all goes well, phase two where patients need more than two days recovery could be introduced by early July.
