Virtual Pet Valu Walk this year in Elliot Lake

The annual Elliot Lake Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides hosted by the local Lions Club will take place following Novel Coronavirus protocols.

Lion’s member Robert Kerr has been organizing the event for a few years and says it is a challenging time, yet newborn puppies, future dog guide puppies, dogs in training and working dog guide teams are being cared for by Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides staff.

He says sponsors, Elliot Lake Foodland and the No Frills, along with pledges from participants will ensure the program continues.

Kerr says the funding will go directly toward raising, training and placing dog guides with Canadians with medical or physical disabilities.

He says rather than gathering in a large group, participants are asked to register online, get pledges and do their part by doing something physical whether it be jumping on a trampoline, taking a walk or yoga, whatever they like.

The walk is set for Saturday, May 31st.
