It’s a first for the Rainbow District School Board. One of its high school students has won a $60,000 scholarship under the prestigious Schulich Leadership Scholarship. She’s Alana Sorgini, a Grade 12 student at Lockerby Composite in Sudbury. Alana is only one of 50 Canadian students to receive the scholarship. It was created three years ago by philanthropist Seymour Schulich to help students that study either, engineering, math, science or technology. Alana will study biomedical sciences at the University of Ottawa.
