Woman could be fined for illegal dumping

If you plan on dumping garbage illegally, you might want to remove incriminating evidence as one Espanola woman found out.  Espanola police have charged a local woman with leaving rubbish on town land after garbage was found off Penage Lake.  A public works crew came upon several garbage bags and found mail inside that belonged to an Espanola resident.  When asked about the dumping, the woman told police someone must have stolen her garbage from the end of her driveway and dumped it.  Police didn’t buy the story, charged her and if convicted, the woman could face a $1,000 fine.
