Workplace Safety North moves annual Sudbury event online

Workplace Safety North has changed up its’ annual Mining Health and Safety Conference bringing it online due to COVID-19.

Originally set to be held in Sudbury next week, Vice-president Mike Parent says anyone taking it in will see a keynote speaker video followed by a live discussion between the speaker and Roy Slack, author and President of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.

Parent says this year’s themes will focus on health issues, such as mental health, mining safety theory and intergenerational workplaces.

Parent adds there is a maximum of 500 allowed, but with more than 300 people registered already for the free conference, interested individuals should register as soon as possible.

The free webinar runs from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Eastern Time, April 21 to 23, and includes recorded video of a past conference presentation, followed by a live after-show discussion with the speaker each day and Roy Slack. Participants are encouraged to ask questions in the webinar using the Q&A button, and join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #SafetyStartsAtHome.
