Manitoulin plan of action – COVID-19

Stay home. That’s the advice Manitoulin Island’s leaders are giving would-be visitors in the fight to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Municipal and First Nation leaders on Manitoulin Island held a virtual meeting earlier this week to update the Island’s COVID-19 pandemic response plan.

All are collaborating together in putting the Manitoulin Field Hospital in place, which will be located at the NEMI Recreation Centre in Little Current.

The 30-bed unit is part of the health centre’s surge capacity plan.
There have only been two positive cases of COVID-19 on Manitoulin, a couple who had travelled on a cruise and who are nearing the end of their isolation period.
