Sudbury declares state of emergency

The City of Greater Sudbury is the latest municipality to declare a state of emergency.

Mayor Brian Biggar says the state of emergency will stay in place as last as long as the provincial state of emergency order.

He says the residents of Sudbury need to do better after the city received several complaints about yard sales and block parties.

Biggar adds with the declaration, the city will be able to enforce and amend bylaws more effectively to protect employees as well as volunteers.

Biggar adds with the holiday weekend upon us, enforcement will be enhanced to maintain physical distancing and no gathering in large groups.
