Wildcats begin West Division NOJHL championship series

When the Elliot Lake Wildcats start their west division NOJHL championship series tonight, they’re going up against a team that has only a slight edge.  Both the Cats and Soo Thunderbirds won the same number of games but the Thunderbirds lost fewer games in overtime.  For the season the T-Birds picked up 83 points to 79 for the Cats.  The Thunderbirds also scored a bit more goals but when it comes to defensive both teams are nearly evenly matches with Elliot Lake allowing only 12 more goals over the season.  Tonight’s opening game is in the Sault and then Saturday the Cats host the T-Birds.
