There will be no Sound the Siren in Appreciation in Elliot Lake this evening.
One of the co-organizers, OPP Constable Phil Young, says people were very positive about having a few police and fire vehicles go to the hospital and other places where health and essential workers are to sound the sirens in appreciation of the work they are doing.
However, he says they have to cancel the plans because the OPP does not want to contravene the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act by possibly having large groups gather.
Young adds they did not want to alarm anyone either by sounding the sirens.
He says they are looking at other options to express appreciation.
