THE LATEST COUNT OF COVID-19 POSITIVES IN THE LOCAL DISTRICTS
Over the weekend, there have been more cases of COVID-19 in local districts.
Algoma Public Health confirmed its eighth positive case, a woman in her 20s who had close contact.
She is self-isolating at home.
And Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reporting its 26th case, this time a Greater Sudbury woman in her 70s who has been hospitalized with the coronavirus.
She had travelled internationally.
APPLICATIONS OPEN TODAY FOR RELIEF BENEFITS
Today’s the day Canadians can start applying for the federal government’s emergency relief benefit.
The program will provide two-thousand dollars a month over the next four months for those whose jobs have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
To handle the expected load, the government’s website will stage applications based on your month of birth.
Those born in January through March can apply on Mondays, April through June on Tuesday, July through September on Wednesday, and October to December on Thursdays.
Fridays through Sundays are open to anyone.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says, if you provide your banking information, the money will start showing up in your account in three to five days.
If you choose to receive a cheque, it could be ten days before it arrives.

Trudeau is promising to consider help for students who may lose out on summer jobs because of the pandemic.
There are currently more than 15-thousand coronavirus cases across Canada.
More than 26-hundred people have recovered, 280 people have died.
THE NUMBERS IN ONTARIO
Here in Ontario, officials report 408 new coronavirus diagnoses as of yesterday, bringing the provincial total to more than four-thousand.
So far, 119 people have died, an increase of 25.
More than 14-hundred cases are considered resolved.
Two-hundred people are in intensive care, 154 of them on ventilators.
Almost 40 long-term care homes are now reporting outbreaks of COVID-19.
The worst is at the Pinecrest nursing home in Bobcaygeon, north of Peterborough.
One more death has been reported, bringing the total to 24.
CORONAVIRUS ELSEWHERE
American officials are warning that this week will be a tragic one in the United States, as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise.
Eight states have not yet imposed orders for people to stay at home.
