Mississauga First Nation will charge trespassers

Trespassers on Mississauga First Nation will be charged if they do not have permission to access the community.

Mississauga First Nation Chief Reg Niganobe says they have not set up checkpoints at the entrances to the reserve, but all residential areas are closed to non-residents.

He stresses essential services, such as hydro, emergency providers and health workers and employees are exempt from the stipulation.

Niganobe says anyone wanting access, must contact the Band Office for clearance.

He adds the formal resolutions were put in place last week by chief and council as part of their COVID-19 pandemic strategy.
