Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes says the federal government’s Bill 51 has many pitfalls. Hughes says the proposed law, which deals with public safety, doesn’t differentiate between activism and violent extremism. Hughes says in its current form, Bill 51 gives security organizations the power to violate almost all the rights of Canadians. Hughes isn’t alone in her concerns and opposition. At a rally in Elliot Lake, residents also voiced their opposition to the way the Bill is currently proposed.
