Ontario updates COVID-19 cases; number up to 1,706

The province now says the number of COVID-19 cases is 1, 706.

Yesterday the number was 1,355, so that represents a new case report of 351 as of 4:00 p.m. yesterday.

The province’s Ministry of Health website also shows a significant increase in people recovered in the last 24 hours up from 8 yesterday to 431 today.  23 people have died.  That number includes two deaths that have not been lab confirmed as COVID-19.

The province has also released other data showing that 50-percent of the cases are men with the rest women.  There are 42 patients 19 years of age and under, 1,319 between the age of 20 and 64 and 343 infections in people 65 and over.  The province says the median age of people confirmed positive with COVID-19 is 50.
