Public Health Sudbury & Districts Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe says the declaration of a state of emergency in Ontario does not mean there is a greater risk of COVID-19.
Rather, she says it underscores how seriously everyone has to take the situation with the virus.
She adds what it means is that there are more powerful tools and additional measures to prevent the spread and delay or reduce infections.
Dr. Sutcliffe says the health unit will comply with the directives handling client interactions by on-site screening and requiring phone pre-screening for anyone who needs testing at one of their sites including Health Sciences North.
