Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board offices in Chapleau, Warren, Little Current and Espanola continue to be manned by staff, but the offices are closed to the public as mandated during the COVID-19 crisis.
Board CAO Fern Dominelli says clients will be able to discuss any concerns they have by phone and personal meetings will be arranged by appointment.
Dominelli says all social assistance payments will continue and clients will not be required to submit monthly income statements.
He adds all new applications or requests for assistance will be handled by phone.
Dominelli emphasizes the staff is there for those in need and no client will be denied benefits because they cannot sign documents.
