Premier Doug Ford is blasting teachers in the province, as the dispute with the four main unions continues.
Ford says the teachers are “greedy,” and their unions have been holding provincial governments ‘hostage” for more than 50 years.
The premier insists the latest contract offers from his government are fair, and teachers are already well paid.
Ford says people want their kids back in school.
The province is holding what is being described as exploratory talks with only one union, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation.
Closer to home, English Catholic, French Catholic and French Public schools in the local districts of Algoma, Manitoulin and Sudbury will be affected by job action this week.
The one-day, province-wide walkout is planned this Thursday by the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association and teachers with French-speaking boards.
