English Catholic, French Catholic and French Public schools in the local districts of Algoma, Manitoulin and Sudbury will be affected by job action this week.
The one-day, province-wide walkout is planned this Thursday by the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association and teachers with French-speaking boards.
Rémi Sabourin, the president of the French-speaking schools’ union says they are at a stalemate with their talks, so they will be on the picket line.
English Catholic president Liz Stuart says the union brought a bad-faith complaint before the Ontario Labour Relations Board, which confirmed the government’s attempt to conceal stakeholder’s opposition to increasing class sizes.
She adds it was the union’s decision to pursue the complaint that was key to making the documents available to the public.
All English Catholic, French Catholic and French Public schools will be closed this Thursday.
