Violent incident at Blind River courthouse

A Mississauga First Nation man is facing several charges including assault following an incident at the Blind River Court House.

East Algoma OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says last Thursday, officers at the courthouse were alerted to an altercation in front of the building.

She says a 20-year-old was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Gauthier says officers arrested a 25-year-old man from Mississauga First Nation who they say was in possession of an edged weapon.

The man has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and a probation violation.
