Cambrian College Career Fair – Employer Award Winner

The largest career fair in Northern Ontario attracted thousands.

Renee Scott, Cambrian College’s Director of Student Success says over 100 employers met with over 2,000 students at the 2020 Cambrian College Career Fair held yesterday at the main campus in Sudbury.

She says the mining technology company Hard-Line Solutions was also presented with the second annual Employer Award of Distinction for its ongoing support of the college.

Scott adds the fair has grown bigger every year and the continued success ensures that employers find the right students to fit the bill when it comes to job openings.

“It really is an honour to receive this award from Cambrian College, especially when you consider all the companies in the city that has a relationship with Cambrian,” says Ryan Siggelkow, Hard-Line’s Senior Vice-President of Technology. “It’s been a very mutually beneficial relationship.

“We’ve been able to give on advisory committees and help out with the curriculum, and we get students from Cambrian to work with them on the right placements and co-ops, and then have them work for us after that.”
For Kristin Ferguson of Plan A Long Term Care Planning and Recruitment, being at the fair this year representing her company brings her full circle.
“I was a student here at Cambrian last year and came to the fair looking for a co-op placement,” explains Ferguson. “I met the people at Plan A, so I did my placement there, and I actually ended up getting a full-time job, all because I came down to the event.”
