New app for mental health focuses on youth

Students will have access to a new app to help them with mental wellness.

The Wikwemikong health centre and Laurentian University are teaming up to develop an app that will let Indigenous children and youth talk about their mental health.
I.M. Well, short for Integrated Mental Wellness, is a program exclusive to students to address the stigma of mental wellness and assist students in finding the appropriate service they need.

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research is providing a $1.5 million grant over the next five years to the program.

The results will be shared with other youth institutions once the project is completed.
