A Manitoulin Island home has been totally destroyed as a result of fire.
Gore Bay Fire Chief Mike Addison says it took firefighters about eight hours to fight the house fire on Hall Street in Gore Bay.
He adds Billings township firefighters also assisted on the scene Monday afternoon and it took some eight hours to put it out.
He says a young man at home at the time made it out safely.
The cause of the fire is unknown and the home was insured.
