A year-long wait is nearly over for a Massey woman who needs a liver transplant.
Elizabeth Cassidy says they received word just in time for Christmas about the most wonderful gift ever – an anonymous live liver donor who is a match.
Cassidy says she will be undergoing the transplant on January 15th at Toronto General Hospital.
Cassidy’s liver was destroyed because of chronic disease, Wilson’s Disease, where her body does not assimilate copper properly.

The disease eventually led to her liver shutting down almost a year ago.
Cassidy adds she only has words of thanks for the donor who she calls the most amazing person and also for the support she has received from the wider community.
