Remembrance March marks Canada’s liberation of the Netherlands

Descendants of Canadian veterans who fought in the Netherlands can mark the 75th Liberation of the Netherlands in a unique way.

Karen Hunter of Guelph has organized the In our Fathers’ Footsteps, which has been supported by the House of Commons and Queen’s Park.

As a descendant, she says she was inspired by her father’s memoirs and is asking interested individuals to register by tomorrow.

Hunter adds descendants who take part will carry the Canadian Remembrance Torch from Toronto in May 2020 oversees to the Netherlands and march in ‘platoons’ in the footsteps of their ancestors, some 60 kilometers over three days.

They will also visit cemeteries and monuments, as well as meet with Princess Margriet.
