Charges laid in dragged moose incident

Two men from Wiikwemikoong First Nation have been charged with multiple offences following an incident on Highway 637 in which a live moose was dragged behind a truck.
The incident was captured on video and shared widely on social media.

The two men were arrested by OPP and both charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and careless use of a firearm.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry also charged the men with using a firearm carelessly to hunt, unlawfully having a loaded firearm in a conveyance; unlawfully discharging a firearm in a traveled roadway; and using a vehicle to hunt or injure wildlife.

They are to appear in Sudbury court on February 26th.
