Espanola family needs support once again

An Espanola family is once again facing a serious health complication involving 10-year-old Blake Bond.

Blake has spent over five years fighting cancers and now faces a new disease as a result of a bone marrow transplant done last year.

Graft-versus-Host Disease is a medical complication resulting from transplanted tissue from a genetically different person.

The disease affects Blake’s skin, muscles, and joints, and although it is not curable, it can be treated.

The treatments require travel to Ottawa every week and Toronto every month. Remedy’s RX in the Espanola Mall has set up a donation jar to encourage the public to donate.

The funding will go towards helping the family offset travel, lodging and prescription costs not covered by any support program.
