Elliot Lake Museum needs funding for cataloguing

The roof collapse at the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre in Elliot Lake last winter has left the Elliot Lake Museum without a home.

While the city continues to look at various options to house a new museum, volunteers are continuing to work on cataloging the various artifacts stored at various places in the city.

Volunteer Linda Finn told council on Monday they have an intern, Nicholas Casey, carrying out the work, but his contract runs out in March.

Finn says they need $47,000 from the city to continue the work until the end of December 2020.

Council thanked the volunteers for their work and will consider the request as part of the 2020 budget process.

The entire presentation was a slide show presented by Finn and reproduced below.
