Photo supplied by jc-gellidon-unsplash.jpg NDP MPP for Thunder Bay-Atikokan Judith Monteith-Farrell is hoping the Ford government will support a bill to improve the Northern Health Travel Grant. Monteith-Farrell says the grant has not been reviewed and/or improved in decades and it needs an overhaul to meet the needs of patients and their families. She says the reimbursement rates are too low and getting the money back takes too long adding Northerners should not have to rack up a credit card bill waiting for compensation. She is proposing the Northern Health Travel Grant Advisory Committee Act would see the establishment of an advisory committee to consult with Northerners and that committee would then submit recommendations to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to improve the program.
