Memorandum of Understanding signed for N’Swakamok Native Alternative School

A historical signing has taken place, which will affect the education of First Nations in the Sudbury area.

Rainbow District School Board communications director, Nicole Charette says the formal signing of a memorandum of understanding is now in effect.

She says the Rainbow District School Board and N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the N’Swakamok Native Alternative School.

Charette says the purpose of the document is to strengthen educational opportunities for Indigenous students in Sudbury, ensure students have equal access in completing their secondary school diploma and support services available for all Indigenous students.

Students attend the school from throughout the Manitoulin and Sudbury districts.
