Donation supports school’s breakfast programs

USW Local 2251 in Sault Ste. Marie is providing funding for breakfast programs in schools in the Algoma and Sudbury districts.

Union President Michael Da Prat says he was proud to present a cheque for $6,500 to Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board director of education, Rose Burton Spohn on Tuesday.

The money comes from union dues he says and will provide $750 to all 18 English Catholic schools including those in Blind River, Elliot Lake, Massey and Espanola.

Spohn adds the funds are timely with Thanksgiving just around the corner and will go a long way to assist each school with their breakfast programs, which are available to all students at every school.
