A leading expert on climate change will be addressing a forum on Manitoulin Island.
Al Douglas, the president of the Climate Risk Institute will be the keynote speaker at a forum at the Café in the Woods just outside of Little Current.
In the release, Douglas is noted for having contributed content to a host of municipal climate change adaptation guidebooks and specializes in facilitating planning at the local and watershed levels.
In 2016, Douglas co-chaired Adaptation Canada 2016, Canada’s first national symposium on climate change since 2005.
The forum will be held at the café on Thursday, October 17th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Douglas has more to his resume. He has also contributed content to two Canadian National Assessments of climate change impact and adaptation acted as an expert reviewer for the last two Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessment reports and has expertise in climate science; climate change impact, vulnerability and risk assessment; policy development and adaptation planning in natural resource sectors. Douglas was a member of Canada’s Expert Panel on Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Results and is currently co-leading the Ontario chapter of the next Canadian assessment of climate change impacts and adaptation.
