Espanola’s Eighth Annual Fibre Arts Festival changes up venues

With a possible impending strike by school staff, organizers of Espanola’s Eighth Annual Fibre Arts Festival have had to make some changes to their venues.

Festival Coordinator Jody Pilon says they had planned to host a couple of events at local schools for the October 18th weekend.

However, she says there is a possibility that school staff could be on strike at that time, and organizers will not cross a picket line nor interfere with a labour dispute.

As a result, she has had to cancel the Knitting Pilgrim as a special guest this year but says they are hoping to have them come back next year.

Venues now include the local churches, the Elks and more.

There will be seven visiting artists and 10 workshops, some of them already filled.

Pilon says they had to cancel one presenter and the schedule and venues have been updated accordingly.
