The Elliot Lake Wildcats did not take to the ice on Friday against the Blind River Beavers for their home-opener due to ongoing structural problems at Centennial Arena.

The City of Elliot Lake closed down the arena due to ongoing rain and roof leaks preventing the ice surface from being safe for players.

The city says the roof sealing process has been delayed due to the heavy rains.

The league says it will reschedule the game when the repairs are done.
