Four-legged friends on Manitoulin Island got a helping hand thanks to two organizations focused on pet care.
Mobile units from the Niagara SPCA and Humane Society and Ontario SPCA were in Wikwemikong last week as part of their province-wide program to assist under-serviced communities in Ontario.
John Greer with the Niagara SPCA says they performed nearly 100 spay/neuter procedures and close to 200 animal wellness examinations in the three days, they were on the Island.
He adds the state-of-the-art mobile units are fully equipped and staffed, and are a crucial tool in providing such services in Ontario.
