Blind River welcomes new councillor

Blind River council is back up to full strength after the appointment of Jennifer Posteraro to the municipal council.

Council was shorthanded after the passing of Councillor Clifford Spratt in early August. Spratt had served since 2014.

“I think I will be a valuable member of the Blind River council because I bring a fresh perspective, as well as a wealth of experience,” Posteraro stated during her presentation to council. “I have been involved in politics and leadership opportunities from a very young age. As the Civics teacher at W.C. Eakets, I hear every day the desire and wishes of our youth and if selected as the new councillor, I would love to spearhead that initiative here in Blind River.”

Her teaching role has led Posteraro to plan to resurrect the Youth Advisory Council to ensure that the youth feels valued and heard.

The other candidates were Robert Ambeault, Joshua Brown, Marcel Jacques and Alex Solomon. The vote for Posteraro was five in favour and one abstain.
