The passing of a councillor in Blind River means the town will be appointing one of five candidates to fill the vacancy on council.

Councillor Clifford Spratt passed away from cancer on August 3rd.

Mayor Sally Hagman says the candidates will be heard in council chambers today at 4:00 pm.

The five individuals vying for the seat are Robert Ambeault, Joshua Brown, Marcel Jacques, Jennifer Posteraro and Alex Solomon.

Hagman says they will each be given ten minutes to present their platform and then she and council will decide who will fill the vacancy.

She also acknowledged Councillor Spratt and his contributions over the years to the community as well as serving as a councillor since 2014.
