Kirkland Lake has said good-bye to a long-time former mayor. Joe Mavrinac, who served the community for decades, was buried on Tuesday after passing away on the weekend. Mavrinac was known as a municipal politician who wasn’t afraid to drop the gloves and fight for his community. Maverick served Kirkland Lake as mayor from 1981 to 1997 and was 91.
