Golfer’s hope to make the LPGA foiled by car crash

A former Massey resident, Casey MacNeil will have to wait another year to try and qualify for the Ladies Professional Golf Association.

MacNeil began playing golf at ten years of age and quickly moved up through the junior ranks over the years.

But, a car crash this week forced her to pull out of the tournament in California.

The 24-year-old says she was driving in Palm Springs when she was struck by another driver who ran a red light.

MacNeil was not seriously hurt, but says she was banged up enough she has to miss the LPGA qualifying tournament the next day.
MacNeil will return to Sudbury to continue training in the hopes of qualifying next year.
