Getting hurt in the line of duty can happen at any time and for a Sables-Spanish Rivers Township volunteer firefighter, that happened last week.
Jillana Goodchild is assisting the family of Darcy Shurrman while he recovers from a severe injury incurred while filling a tanker on a fire call.
Goodchild says he and his wife, Melissa are raising their four children and are both self-employed, so any assistance is appreciated.
She adds he is expected to recover.
