Swimming advisory issued for two beaches on Manitoulin Island

Beachgoers assume the risk if they decide to go swimming at two beaches on Manitoulin Island.

Public Health Sudbury and District manager, Cynthia Peacock-Rocca says swimming advisories for Kagawong Village Beach and Providence Bay Beach were put in place on Friday because of high levels of bacteria.

She says anyone going in the water could risk infection.

Peacock-Rocca adds they are continuing to test the water and when the bacteria subsides to acceptable levels, the beach sites will be opened once again to the public.
