Major lumber donation to Habitat for Humanity Canada for the 2019 Build Season

The EACOM Timber Corporation is lending its support to families in Ontario and Quebec to build and own their own homes.
Yesterday afternoon, Kevin Edgson,  President and CEO of EACOM, told employees the company is donating over $86,000 worth of lumber to support builds for Ottawa, Grey-Bruce, Thunder Bay and Montréal, helping 19 families access homeownership and better living conditions.

President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Canada, Mark Rodgers pointed out it is the third year in the row that EACOM has contributed their support to the agency.
The two then joined employees at the Nairn Centre Mill in the official send-off of the last train loaded with the lumber, which will be used for the projects.

“We work hard to make affordable homeownership the reality for hundreds of families each year. We couldn’t do that work without generous donors like EACOM Timber Corporation, who not only support our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live but work right alongside us to make it happen,” adds Rodgers.

Habitat for Humanity Canada works to help families build strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership. Building product donations offset constructions costs, ultimately helping build more homes for families in need of better housing. Lumber sourced from Canadian forests, amongst the best managed in the world, ensures that homes are built with sustainable, local and renewable materials.

“We believe that strong communities start with safe and decent homes for families which is why Habitat for Humanity Canada’s mission aligns with our values. This partnership is a natural fit that furthers EACOM’s commitment to supporting thriving communities,” adds Edgson. “Grown and processed with pride in our northern regions, our certified wood products will provide a solid structure to 19 families as they embark in this new chapter of their lives.”

Building on this engagement, EACOM business partners Aaron Transportation, Kelsey Trail, Big Freight Systems, and Laidlaw Carriers have generously offered to deliver the donated products to local Habitat for Humanity build sites.
“We thank our partners for joining us in this effort. By working together, we are making a big difference for these families,” added Edgson.

Flourishing communities are an essential component of sustainable forest management. EACOM and Habitat for Humanity Canada invite the public to volunteer at a local Habitat organization this summer. For more information, visit www.habitat.ca.
