Carol Hughes of Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing says victims of violence in northern regions have it very tough. She says unlike more populated areas, remote regions don’t have enough shelters a woman or her children can retreat to when abused. She wants the Harper Tories to put more funding in this area and not just gloss over it. Hughes says 70 percent of northern and remote communities don’t have shelters for victims of violence and abuse.
