Inquest into the death of Sudbury miner

Dr. Emily Groot, Regional Supervising Coroner in Sudbury says an inquest will be held into the death of Marc Lafreniere.

Fifty-one-year-old Marc Lafreniere died on December 28th, 2013, trapped under an overturned excavator in marshland near Sudbury.
She explains as a mining incident, an inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding his passing and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.

The inquest is set for November 7th at the Sudbury Court House.
