A couple of Manitoulin teams are waiting to hear if they’ve qualified for higher standing with Special Olympics. The first is the island’s curling team which is made up of former grads from Manitoulin Secondary. The players won gold in the “A” division at the provincial winter games in North Bay and are waiting to hear if they’ll compete at the national level next year at the winter games in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Also waiting to see if they’re headed to the nationals in Corner Brook is the snowshoeing team which also won at the winter games in North Bay.
