Espanola water restriction now voluntary – flushing starts today

A volunteer water restriction is being put in place by Espanola Public Works while they deal with the cause of brown water in the lines.

Manager Joel Yusko says they have determined the cause of brown water is related to periods of high consumption of water combined with sediment in the trunk main from the treatment plant to the Queensway Avenue.

Last night, they did some maintenance on the mainline valve at the intersection of Mead and the Queensway, which may also result in brown water.

He adds the town is currently securing the necessary equipment for an aggressive flush to take place next Tuesday, July 16th.

Yusko asks people to keep their outside water use to the minimum while they deal with the situation.
