Blind River’s waste management plan has a way to go before it can be sent into the Ministry of the Environment for final approval
Chris Kresin, of Kresin Engineering Corporation, told Council Monday night that the plan will include expansion of the current town landfill site, recycling, construction disposal and hazardous waste disposal.
He points out that several sites were looked as the current landfill is expected to reach capacity with the next four years, but in the end, expansion was considered the best option.
He stresses the plan is to implement waste handling alternatives over a 25-year period as required by the Ministry.
Kresin adds the public will be provided with an opportunity to make comment about the plan, although no date for the public hearing has been set.
