Health unit issues Hepatitis A warning

An employee of Casey’s in Sudbury has come down with Hepatitis “A” and that’s resulted in a warning from the Sudbury and District Health unit.  The health unit says people should get a vaccination if they ate at the Kingsway site restaurant from January 15th to the 20th.  Medical Officer of Health Doctor Penny Sutcliffe says it’s because customers could also be infected.  Hepatitis A symptoms can occur 15 to 50 days after infection.  The disease can affect your liver although it’s rarely fatal.  The health unit is providing free shots in Sudbury, Espanola and Mindemoya and your doctor can also vaccinate you.
