Elliot Lake council has agreed to meet later this week to look at approving a major festival as a municipally significant event.
Promoter, Corey Mackenzie of AstroRabbit Entertainment, wants to host a licensed heavy metal concert at Mount Dufour from August 9th to 11th.
Councillor Norman Mann supports the event, but says they need the guarantees in writing, such as $5 million liability for the event, no camping at Mount Defour, access to busing and dealing with RV parking.
Councillors concurred and have agreed to give Mackenzie until Friday to come back to them at a special meeting of council at noon to have the proof the issues have been dealt with.
