Espanola Mayor Jill Beer feels the council is overstepping its bounds when it comes to replacement workers.
On Tuesday night, the council held a discussion in regards to replacement workers and the responsibilities of council when it comes to filling those vacancies.
Mayor Jill Beer says she believes that if an employee position is already budgeted for, there should be no concerns about hiring a replacement worker to fill that position.
But other councilors did not agree with her stating there could be additional costs associated with hiring a replacement worker that is budgeted for.
The hiring policy will be discussed at the corporate services committee meeting on June 25th.
